I am offering two CDs by the Philippine band D’Swoonerd, who were active in Japan from the GS period to the New Rock period of the 1960s. They are not rental copies. ① has only been listened to once and is <almost new>.

“The all-Filipino D’Swooners are known as the GS band with the best English pronunciation. They came to Japan in 1967 after being seen by Yuzo Kayama’s sister and her husband at a live show in Hong Kong. They performed as an exclusive band at Restaurant Ichikaku in the newly opened Pacific Hotel Chigasaki, which Kayama managed. After returning to Japan, they came back to Japan in 1968. They released two albums in Japan from Philips. The De Sooners stayed in Japan and continued to play live at discotheques and jazz cafes. In June 1971, they released their third album, Teresa, from Nippon Columbia in October of the same year, featuring Teresa Carbio, a female singer who had just made her solo debut with "Mixed Child Marie." Teresa is half Filipino and half Chinese, and came to Japan on the advice of Shintaro Katsu, who visited Hong Kong to prepare for the production of "Zatoichi: The Battle of China." She also appeared as a cabaret singer in Katsu Shin's "Kaoyaku" (1971). This is the first CD release of Teresa. It will be released in a paper jacket with a reproduction of the original jacket, and on SHM-CD. The album opens with new rock covers, such as Chicago's "Questions 67-68" and Gypsy's "A Wish for Tomorrow," but then suddenly shows off a gorgeous harmony reminiscent of the Four Freshmen with "Polka Dots and Moon Beams." The album gets lively again with "Get Ready," featuring Teresa's dark shouts, and then the chorus of "Sono Hi Toki" (written by Henry Mancini) brings a gloomy mood... and the pace changes again. This rhythm is the charm of "Hacoban." It gives a vision of the old Akasaka MUGEN. Teresa is also featured in Burt Bacharach's "Koi no Omokage."

The songs that were not selected are "Stone Free," "Fire," "Purple Smoke," "Light a Fire in Your Heart," and "Please Please Trina." 1st 『The debut album of the Philippine-born Des Sooners, said to have become a textbook for amateur GS artists in the midst of the GS boom. The group made their Japanese debut when they were discovered by Yuzo Kayama's sister and her husband while performing at a hotel in Hong Kong. Their outstanding technique and groove shook the Japanese GS artists of the time, and this album brought Filipino bands into the spotlight in Japan. This album, which is mainly composed of their stage repertoire, including Jimi Hendrix numbers and familiar R&B numbers, allows you to fully enjoy the feeling that Japanese bands at the time did not have.』

2nd 『The Sooners' second album. Like the previous album, it is mainly composed of R&B numbers and covers of Cream, The Doors, etc., which are part of their stage repertoire, but it is rich in variety, including previously released singles and Simon & Garfunkel's ⑰. Although the group is often talked about as being psychedelic, they are well known for their skillful choruses, as can be heard in ⑲, and their ballad sense is also outstanding. This album allows us to reaffirm their wide range of musicality and their dexterity in copying any song in a short time. This is a record that truly shows off the Sooners' true talents. 』
